On Thursday February 23 2017, the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc. presented Part II of the Financial Well Being Series: SHOW ME THE MONEY: Increasing our Economic Power Through Retirement, Investments, and Insurance Vehicles. The Workshop was sponsored by City National Bank, Executive Retirement Solutions, Northwestern Mutual and KMR Law Group. The second of BWL’s Financial Well Being series focused on practical steps to building wealth, protecting assets while employed, upon retirement and beyond. Just over twenty-five attendees had the unique opportunity to hear jointly from financial advisors, wealth managers, insurance experts and an estate planning professional as they shared critical pieces of information and practical steps to achieving and preserving economic well-being and growth.
Presenters discussed various investment and financial planning strategies for legal professionals at various stages of their careers including new lawyers, those looking to retirement, entrepreneurial lawyers, and more. Presenters also educated attendees on the differences between various life insurance products and retirement vehicles, including the tax benefits and consequences. The discussion was concluded with an overview of estate planning implications for retirement and insurance assets. Presenters were Sylvia Garcia (Citi National Bank); Gary S. Austin (Executive Retirement Solutions; Christopher Bell II (Northwestern Mutual); and Jessica Youngblood (Knight Morris & Reddick Law Group).
