BWL President Amber Finch hosted a dinner in her home to lead an open, no holds barred discussion of issues that confront law students, recent law grads, and attorneys in the first few years of practice. In the course of the evening, Amber answered questions about the job search, how to manage subordinates, and even controversies around wearing natural hairstyles. BWL members Michelle Kazadi, Rashida Adams, and Carla Ford were present and they offered their advice. Ernestine Forrest gave a presentation on her recent book entitled Dear Sisters, Dear Daughters: Strategies for Success from Multicultural Women Attorneys (C. Elisia Frazier & Ernestine Forrest eds., 2009), which is a collection of inspiring letters from experienced multicultural women lawyers who offer advice and road maps for success as an attorney. Everyone agreed that the evening was a provocative, informative, and enjoyable evening of sisterhood that quenched a great thirst for information and frank discussion about the legal profession and our places in it.
