On May 3, 2017, NAWJ, along with the California Judges Association Foundation, the State Bar Council on Access & Fairness, the California Women Lawyers Foundation, WLALA, AALA-SC, IABA, LLBA, BWL, APAWLA and IALA and the Los Angeles Superior Court held the Color of Justice program for minority students. The purpose of this event was to offer insight and perspective of the legal field and encouragement to consider the field from legal giants such as Chief Judge Audrey Collins, Assistant presiding Judge Kevin Brazile and a panel comprised of law firm partners, judges and attorneys that connected one on one with students. The legal professionals gave their background history, the paths taken that lead to their legal careers, their current experiences, feelings, etc. The students spoke of their lives and plans, appeared comfortable and honored. In the end the students were gleaming with excitement and left inspired, informed and focused on future career goals.
